Screen Capture & Guided Tours · included with Pro, rolling out after the core launch

Record the workflow once. Let Claude write the guide.

Dicta can capture your screen, a separate audio track, and every click and keystroke with exact timestamps, all at once, all on your Mac. The result is a single markdown timeline of exactly what happened, the input Claude uses to turn a recorded workflow into a guided tour or a step-by-step doc.

Announced, not shipped yet. Included with Pro once it ships, at no extra cost, with a switch a Team admin can control.

Your call, every time

Four capture modes, from nothing to everything

Pick a mode from the menu bar, or per meeting. Each mode adds one more layer on top of the last, so you choose exactly how much gets captured.

Off

No capture at all. Dictation and meetings behave exactly as they do today.

Transcribe

Just the words. Speech becomes text; nothing else is recorded or kept.

Audio + Transcribe

Keeps the recording next to the transcript, so you can play a moment back later.

Screen + Audio + Transcribe

Adds a screen recording (main display by default, any display you pick) and a click-and-keystroke log to the audio and transcript.

Shown, not told

From a recording to a guided tour

Every click and keystroke lands on the timeline with its exact timestamp, next to the screenshot it triggered if you turned those on. Claude reads that timeline and writes the steps. The names and steps below are illustrative demo content, not a real recording.

Guided tour: Creating a new project
  1. Open the app and click New Project.
  2. Name the project "Q3 Launch Plan".
  3. Click Save to create it.

What it captures

Everything a guided tour needs, on one timeline

Every click and keystroke, exactly timed

While Screen + Audio + Transcribe is running, Dicta logs every mouse click and keystroke alongside the exact timestamp it happened, next to the screen recording, the separate audio file and the transcript, so the whole session lines up on one timeline.

Optional screenshots, right where you clicked

Turn on per-click screenshots and Dicta captures a still at the moment of each click, dropped into the same markdown timeline next to the action that triggered it.

One markdown file, ready for Claude

The screen recording, the audio, the transcript and the click-and-keystroke log combine into a single markdown timeline of the whole session, the input Claude uses to write a guided tour or a step-by-step doc from what you actually did, not from a description of it.

Exports to Showcase

The same timeline exports to Showcase, so a recorded workflow can become a shareable guide or story without redoing the work by hand.

One place for every recording

Dictations and meetings, in the same searchable list

A single unified viewer shows every dictation and every meeting recording together, filterable and tagged, so you are never hunting between two separate histories to find the session you need.

Local, always

Your screen never leaves your Mac to become a guide

The cloud recorders that do this today, tools like Fathom or Loom, work by uploading your screen to their servers. Dicta does not: the screen recording, the separate audio file, the click-and-keystroke log, the transcript and the markdown timeline built from them are all created and stored on the Mac doing the recording. There is no cloud mode to opt out of, because there is no cloud step at all.

Even mid-recording

Privacy Mode covers screen capture too

The same Privacy Mode that hides your dictation history and meeting transcripts the instant you share your screen applies while a screen capture is running: sensitive panes get the same placeholder treatment, on the same reflex, with nothing extra to configure.

Included with Pro

Pro, with a switch a Team admin controls

Screen Capture & Guided Tours is a Pro feature, included at no extra cost once it ships. On a Team plan, an admin can enable or restrict it centrally across every seat, the same feature-control model already planned for the rest of Team, rather than leaving it to each person to turn on.
