Is dictation software GDPR-compliant?
It depends entirely on where your voice data goes. Cloud dictation tools upload audio or text to a server for processing, which makes the vendor a processor under GDPR and typically requires a data processing agreement (DPA).
Dicta’s architecture avoids that question for your content rather than answering it: speech recognition and the AI rewrite both run on your device, so there is no cloud processing of dictation content and nothing that needs a DPA for that content path. Separately, Dicta does collect aggregate usage statistics linked to your license (never your content), disclosed in full on the Privacy page, on by default with an off switch, and erasable on request. We describe the content path as GDPR-friendly by architecture, not as a certification, since GDPR compliance depends on your organization’s full processing activities, not just one tool. See Dicta for privacy & compliance for the fuller picture; this is not legal advice.
